GOALKICK AGENCY PARTNERS GARFA FOR JUVENILE FOOTBALL SHOWDOWN.

Goalkick Football Agency partnered with the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) for the 2022 Greater Accra Juvenile League Semi-final and final held at the La McDan town park, yesterday July 24th, 2022.

The Agency which is a wing of Goalkick Foundation seeks to unearth young footballing talents and to provide them with career guidance, and suitable platforms in the quest to develop grassroot football in the country.

The first semi-final contest saw Foresee Fc thump All Nice fc 4-0 in what was a dominant display by the victors.

Great Corinthians fc also booked a place in the final with a 3-1 win over Mal fc to set up a mouth-watering fixture with Forsee fc.

In the final encounter of the day, Great Corinthians run out 2-1 winners over Forsee fc to win this year’s Greater Accra Juvenile League.

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Mr. Mohammed Hamdan Issaka said he was impressed with the organization of the event and the talents on display.

He seized the opportunity to call on the organizers to collaborate with other corporate bodies to put together many of such events especially at the grassroots level.

“I think more needs to be done with regards to grassroot football and it’s related support and funding.”

GOALKICK FOUNDATION HOLDS MAIDEN TRIALS.

Goalkick Foundation has held its maiden edition of a football scouting event in Accra to recruit aspiring professional footballers with immense talents.

The Football Agency wing of the Foundation focuses on football as a tool for youth development and poverty alleviation, and the Maiden edition is just the first of many sports educational projects the foundation aims to roll out.

The event which was staged at the McDan La Town Park saw an overwhelming number of trialists who took advantage of the free-registration process to showcase their talents.

Over three hundred and seventy (370) participants who registered were grouped into 38 teams on day one to pit their wits against each other in 19 feisty but worthwhile contests.

The event which was initially penciled for a day, spanned to two days due to the high number of registrants.

A total of seventy-five participants were selected to partake in day two of the event where the list was set to be trimmed down to a handful.

Thirty-five trialists were handpicked from the seventy-five shorlisted group on day one by the technical team.

The highly anticipated scouting event saw some of the top notch coaches on the local scene and scouts gracing the occasion.

Some of the coaches include,  Coach Nassam Yakubu (Goalkeeper’s Trainer, Black Princesses), Coach Nurudeen Amadu (Former King Faisal Head Coach), Coach Umar Abdul- Rabi (Head Coach Medeama Sporting Club), Coach Nii Odartey Lamptey (Former Head Coach of Elmina Sharks), Coach Yaw Preko (Head Coach of U-15 National Team), Coach Ben Zola  (Aduana Football Club).

Others include, Coach Willie Brown (Assist. Coach Abusua Dwarfs FC), Coach Mahood Tameem (Coach Imam 1 FC), Coach Eric Wood
(Scout Imam 1 FC)

Former Black Stars dazzling midfielder and current scout for Nordjaelland/Right To Dream, Derrick Boateng, witnessed the event.

Media personality and CEO of TO Stars FC Godfred Akoto Boafo was in attendance to witness the event.

Speaking to the Corporate Relations and Marketing manager of Goalkick Foundation Mr. Ian Osei Owusu, he said the next phase of the project will see a series of organised competitive sessions and exhibition games for the 35 man selected group and other competitive sides in the country.

He added that the platform created by Goalkick, provides an excellent springboard for these players to realize their dreams and also help to alleviate poverty through sports education.

The Chief Executive Director of Goalkick Foundation Mr. Mohammed Hamdan Issaka in an interview also noted that the purpose of the event was to bring together some of the very best trainers and scouts in the country to have a good look at the trialists who abound in talent.

“The idea behind the event was to provide a platform for these youngsters who are more of diamonds in the rough to be seen by notable coaches and scouts in our football space and beyond.”

The Maiden Trials was organized by Goalkick Foundation and it’s partners Action Solidaritè Pour Lé Development Humain (ASODH), Gazprom Football for Freindship and the National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) was also supported by Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), National Petroleum Authority, National Youth Authority (NYA) and Star Assurance.

ENOCH MORRISON STARS IN KOTOKO DRAW

King Faisal Babies dazzling winger Enoch Morrison had a stellar performance against city rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay sports stadium on Saturday.

Morrison assisted Zubairu Ibrahim who tucked home the opening goal of the game on the 15th minute mark to give the “Insha Allah” lads the lead.

Kotoko however drew level through substitute Andy Kumi who nodded home the equalizer with six minutes to play.

The mecurial winger Morrison who has been one of King Faisal’s best performers of the campaign showed flashes of his brilliance in the opening minutes of the game and his persistence paid dividend when he flighted a text book cross which resulted in the visitors only goal of the game.

The share of the spoils mean King Faisal would have to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the next games against fellow relegation threatened clubs Ebusua Dwarfs and Liberty Professionals to keep their Premier league status.

The Kumasi based club lie 16th on the current league standings after the draw with Kotoko in Obuasi and teeter on the brink of relegation with two matches to draw the curtains.

RICHARD OFORI COMPLETE PIRATES MOVE

Black Stars number one shot-stopper Richard Ofori has joined South African heavyweights Orlando Pirates on a 3 year deal from Maritzburg United, the Buccaneers have confirmed.

Ofori who has received plaudits from football connoisseurs and neutrals for his scintillating performances in the South African PSL has been on Pirates transfer wish list and his acquisition comes as a massive boost for Josef Zinnbauer’s side.

GFA LAUNCH YOUNG REFEREEING POLICY

The Ghana Football Association has officially launched a “catch them young” refereeing policy aimed at unearthing officiating officials at the juvenile level.

The policy is designed to unlock the potential of young referees and replenish the current stock after an expose on football corruption by Ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas found a handful of referees culpably involved.

This initiative will also look to support the education of referees at the grassroots across the Regional Football Associations.

President of the Ghana Football Association Edwin Kurt Simon Okraku speaking at the launch highlighted the need to comb the country and find young boys and girls with passion for refereeing and add value to them.

He adds that his outfit will replicate the “catch them young” refereeing policy at the district level in due course.

“This shows the Association’s commitment to investing in referees” he emphasized.

DENNIS TETTEH STRIKE EARNS SLAVIA MOZYR A POINT AGAINST VITEBSK

Ghanaian International and Slavia Mozyr striker Dennis Tetteh scored a peach of a goal to draw his team level at home against Vitebsk in the Belarusian top tier league on Sunday.

Tetteh’s acute angle finish in the 34th minute drew the host level after Sergey Volkov had scored for the visitors in the opening minutes of the game.

The Ghanaian marksman who worked his socks off for 90minutes scooped the man of the match award making it successive MoTM awards on the spin.

The Mozyr chap has scored 3 goals after his comeback from a torrid spell on sidelines through injury.

HAT-TRICK OF AWARDS FOR JORDAN AYEW

Ghanaian International Jordan Ayew has been named Crystal Palace’s player of 2019-2020 football season at the Club’s TV award show held in London.

The prodigious talent who scored nine goals for the Eagles in the Premiership also scooped the Players Player of the Year and Goal of the season awards.

Speaking to the Club’s TV network, Ayew recalled what was a tough campaign in his first season at the club highlighting hardwork as folcrum for his achievement.

“I have worked so hard to get into the team and I think the first season I came into this team wasn’t the best but the club had faith in me, the club wanted me to stay and I wanted to stay as well.”

“I had the desire to have a better season and things have gone so well. I am just grateful.

“I want to thank everyone at the football club; I want to thank the fans especially, they have been massive for us this season, for me especially they have been massive. I would like to thank all the people that supported me within the difficult moments that I had in my football career.

“When I have this type of award I just think of my family and obviously of the fans. And one man that has been so influential in my football career, that is my mentor and former Olympique de Marseille President Pape Diouf. I lost him within the period of COVID and he passed away, I wish he was still here so I could present him this.”

The South London outfit finished 14th on the league log and the gaffer of the side Roy Hodgson would be looking to beef up his squad for the beckoning season.

GFA SIGNS MATCHBALL DEAL WITH MACRON GHANA.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has signed a partnership agreement with Macron Ghana Limited, sports apparel manufacturers as official matchball sponsors.

Macron will furnish the GFA with a total of five thousand (5,000) pieces of footballs and one thousand five hundred (1,500) pieces of bibs every campaign for the next three seasons in a deal valued at GH¢1.6m cedis.

Macron will be the official matchball partner for the Ghana Premier League (GPL), MTN FA cup and the National Division One League.

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Edwin Simon Kurt Okraku in his address said he was chuffed about the partnership deal describing it as “exciting” for Ghana Football.
